Submissions

Please submit your abstracts by 3 December 2023. We are actively reviewing abstracts during the submission period, and will be in touch with feedback.

We seek papers and/or complete panels dealing with, but not limited to: 

  1. African nations’ role in the Treaty on the Prohibition of Nuclear Weapons (TPNW)
  2. Uranium mining in Africa
  3. South Africa’s nuclear weapons program
  4. Libya’s nuclear weapons program
  5. Nuclear testing in Africa
  6. The effects of decolonization movements on the nuclear arms race
  7. African leaders’ resistance to nuclear weapons 
  8. Africa and the Nuclear Nonproliferation Treaty (NPT)

We especially encourage graduate students and recent PhD’s to contribute.

Application Process

Complete Application Form

The application requires an abstract of a proposed presentation and a personal statement. The presentation abstract can be for a current work in progress, or a piece specifically developed in response to this call.
The personal statement should outline your potential contribution to the conference, your professional or academic experience, and the benefits you expect to gain as a result of participation.

Submission Deadline

Applications must be submitted no later than December 3, 2023, midnight CET.

Successful applicants will be contacted in January 2024 and we will work with authors to develop their submissions into presentations for the conference.
We particularly welcome applications from graduate students, early career researchers and recent PhD's

Conference Date

We anticipate the conference to be held in August 2024, and will announce a confirmed date in due course.
